Kvarner 2026

Kvarner is the place where the Mediterranean, continental, and pre-Alpine climates meet. Spread between litoral, islands and mountains areas, it is a region of great biodiversity mirrored in richness of local ingredients, versatility of littoral, island and mountain cuisines and diversity of seasonal dishes. If we start from the sea, Kvarner abounds with fish stocks, in particular, world famous Kvarner langoustines, islands are known for olive growing, sheep farming and development of viticulture, while mountain area takes pride in wild game, mushrooms and forest berries. On Kvarner there are 36 indigenous grape varieties, region has strong community of honey and honeydew producers. Honeydew from Kvarner is given the highest EU quality mark – that of a Protected Designation of Origin.
